Shri Muniraj Maharaj
Before His departure in 1984, Babaji appointed Shri Muniraj as His successor. Shri Muniraj is one of the first and dearest followers of Babaji.
During the last years of His life, Babaji repeatedly stated that Shri Muniraj would become the Teacher of the West. He also stated to Muniraj that his work would begin when He (Babaji) had left His body.
In the late 1970s, Shri Muniraj built in Chilianaula, Ranikhet, India, a beautiful marble temple and an ashram in honor of Babaji. Hundreds of people travel here every year for the celebration of the Autumn Navaratri (the festival in honor of the Divine Mother).
In the autumn of 1995, under supervision of Muniraj a new hospital, the Shree Baba Haidakhan Charitable and Research Hospital, was opened in Chilianaula. Establishing and maintaining this hospital is a monumental task and a great service to the millions of people who live in this remote part of the world, where until then hardly any medical facilities were available.
One of Babaji’s most important teachings is humanitarian service. Shri Muniraj puts this into practice. He is an example in Truth, Simplicity and Love, as Babaji described his message. His performance is calm and simple; in his words and deeds Truth resounds, and his presence radiates Love. He carries a profound silence.
On 4 August 2012, at 2:15 am Indian time (10:45 am Dutch time), Muniraj left his physical body.
Muniraj’s last words were: “Babaji is calling me”
But also after his pass away, his example and inspiration remain alive.
