SUMMARY:Shri Sadashiva Charitamrita
DESCRIPTION:From Friday\, February 6 to Sunday\, February 8\, the book Sadashiva Charitamrit will be the focus at Sadashiva Dham. In the mornings and afternoons\, Urvashi Puri *) from New Delhi will read from this Divinely inspired book and provide explanations in English. \nContent\nThe book was mostly written before Babaji’s arrival in 1970 by Shri Vishnu Datt Shastriji\, inspired by Mahendra Baba. It recounts the profound conversations from the world of the Gods about the Divine incarnations from the time of Rama and Krishna\, up to ‘old Haidakhan Baba’ and Babaji’s last manifestation from 1970-1984. The necessity of these incarnations to help humanity through difficult times is discussed. Babaji’s last manifestation from 1970-1984 is also highlighted\, to help humanity reach a higher level of humanity. During his last manifestation\, Babaji himself dictated the final chapter to Shastriji. \nThe book is written in Sanskrit and the old Avadhi language. \nEvent\nThe readings are both in the morning and in the afternoon. You are invited to be present all three days. But if you can only attend one day or a morning (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM) or afternoon (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM)\, you are also very welcome. The times are subject to change. In addition to the normal ashram contribution for meals and accommodation\, you can make a free donation for this event. \nRegister\nYou can send an email to sadashivadham@gmail.com\nPlease mention that you are coming for this event and on which days you will participate. \n*) Urvashi Puri\, along with her husband\, was a devoted student of Shastriji. Urvashi later received Muniraj’s blessing to publicly read and translate the book. She is a board member in India.

SUMMARY:Maha Shivaratri
DESCRIPTION:Maha Shivaratri literally means ‘the great night of Lord Shiva‘ and is celebrated once a year in February or March\, just before the new moon. This special night is celebrated in honor of Shiva\, Lord of the universe. \nIt begins with the Shiva Lingam Abhishek Puja; this is a ceremonial prayer in honor of Lord Shiva. According to tradition\, it is beneficial to stay awake this night and spend it in meditation or singing bhajans and kirtan. This night is suitable for spiritual growth and meditation. A night that has a healing effect on body\, soul\, and spirit. \nThe Program\n6:30 AM: Havan in the dhuni \n8:00 AM: Aarti followed by Paduka Puja in the temple \n10:30 AM: Karma Yoga and preparation for the evening celebration \n1:00 PM: Simple lunch – on this spiritual day\, eating only fruits and nuts or complete fasting is recommended \nuntil 4:00 PM: Break \n4:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Karma Yoga \n7:00 PM: Aarti in the temple \n9:00 PM: Maha Shivaratri Shiva Lingam Abhishek Puja* in the temple \nFollowed by bhajans and kirtan singing until early morning \n  \n*\nShiva Lingam Abishek Puja: the Shiva Lingam is the symbol of Shiva\, who is without beginning or end. This puja is held to celebrate our connection with the infinite essence of existence\, for peace and harmony. During this Abishek puja\, the Lingam is bathed with milk\, and offerings of perfume oil\, flowers\, incense\, and sweets are made\, and finally\, light is offered through the Aarti. All of this serves as a deep cleansing and meditation\, giving us new energy and enlivening our consciousness. \nThe next morning\, there is a program as usual (see daily program). \nThe Origin of Maha Shivaratri\nThere are different stories about this celebration. One of the stories is about the churning of the ocean in the early days of creation to find the nectar of immortality. Before the pot with the nectar surfaced\, a pot of poison emerged that could destroy the world and frightened both gods and demons. To protect the world\, Shiva came and drank the poison\, which he did not swallow but held in his throat\, turning it blue. This is why Shiva is also called ‘Neelkantha’: ‘He with the blue throat’. Maha Shivaratri is celebrated to commemorate this event.
