Shri Muniraj Maharaj

Before Babaji left His body in 1984, He appointed Shri Muniraj as His successor. Shri Muniraj was one of Babaji’s earliest and most beloved disciples. In the final years of His life, Babaji often said that Shri Muniraj would become the teacher for the West. He told him that his real work would begin after Babaji left His physical form.

In the late 1970s, Shri Muniraj founded a beautiful marble temple and ashram in Chilianaula, Ranikhet, in India, dedicated to Babaji. Every autumn, hundreds of people travel there to celebrate Navaratri, the festival in honor of the Divine Mother. In 1995, under his guidance, the Shree Baba Haidakhan Charitable and Research Hospital was opened in Chilianaula. Building and maintaining this hospital has been a monumental act of service, providing vital medical care in a remote area where hardly any facilities were available.

One of Babaji’s core teachings is selfless humanitarian service, and Shri Muniraj lived this fully. He was a true example of Truth, Simplicity, and Love. He lived and spoke with quiet strength—his words and actions reflected truth, and his very presence radiated love. He carried deep inner silence. With just a few simple words, Shri Muniraj could offer clarity or solutions to the challenges people brought to him.

Muniraj visited the Netherlands several times. In 1992 He came, along with Vishnu Datt Shastriji, to Loenen to officially open Sadashiva Dham and encourage the founders to further develop the ashram. After a fire in 1994, Muniraj visited the ashram again in 1996 with Shastriji to inaugurate the rebuilding. His last trip outside India was to Russia in 2011. Muniraj left his body on August 4, 2012.
