Diwali

The festival of Diwali is celebrated every year, between mid-October and mid-November, on the day of the new moon. The festival is the celebration of Lakshmi, the feminine divine force in creation who provides prosperity and abundance at all levels of life. It is also called the festival of lights because in the evening lights are lit everywhere, so that Lakshmi can easily find her way and give her blessings.

The day is spent cleaning the different spaces and putting up decorations.

At 4:30 PM we celebrate a small Kali puja. Kali is an aspect of the divine Mother to destroy negativity, dispel darkness and promote spirituality.

Aarti starts at 7:00 PM.

In the evening, tea lights and candles are lit as a welcome for Lakshmi. At 9 PM we celebrate the Lakshmi puja in the temple on the occasion of Diwali.
